Mac-Solutions is a shareware program which will perform various calculations used in preparing solutions in a laboratory setting. To use the program simply type the known values into the text fields of the calculator and mouse-click on the button for the desired calculation. Mac-Solutions also includes on-line help found by selecting Help and Registration from the File menu and two libraries or editable data bases where you can enter the formula weight of commonly used substances and the concentration of stock solution concentrations.
Mac-Solutions is not free. You may test the program for a period of two weeks. If you use the program beyond this test period, please register your copy of the program by sending 15$ (US) to
the author. The address is displayed whenever the program is started. In return, you will recieve a password which will turn off the shareware notification screens. If you include an email or other on-line address, I will also notify you directly of updates (and bugs) to the program. You will also be entitiled to upgrades to this program either at no cost or at a generous discount (depending somewhat on the nature of the upgrade -- if I spend 6 months re-writing the program I reserve the right to request some compensation.) I am a first year post-doc and will soon be a father, which means that anytime during the next 18 years or so your registration fee will be greatly appreciated. In addition, your support of this product will insure the continued development and maintenance of the program. I have several improvements in mind including the ability to enter and access notes and procedures for compounds found in the libraries and the ability to keep several different libraries available at once. However, improvements to the program will occur in proportion to the responses I get from program users.

If you are already using an earlier version of Mac-Solutions, you can save any changes you have made to the libraries by importing your older libraries directly into versions 3.0. Use the Import Libraries command found in the file menu and select your old copy of Mac-Solutions. Check to make sure the libraries were succesfully loaded before deleting your old copy. As before, you cannot save changes to the program if you are running it from a locked-disc!
